FILM EXCHANGE 2002

FilmExchange: NSI's Canadian Film Festival is the largest festival in Canada dedicated to screening 100% Canadian films. Formerly the Local Heroes Canadian Film Festival, NSI adopted a new name in 2001 to better reflect the Canadian identity of the Festival, while taking into account the historical and geographical aspects of its setting: Winnipeg.

As a nation of diverse peoples Canada has always been defined by exchanges between cultures. Likewise, Winnipeg has always been an exchange point between different peoples. This tradition continues with FilmExchange -- a meeting place in the centre of Canada where Canadian filmmakers from all regions assemble to exchange stories and ideas with each other, and with our audiences.

The city's friendly, relaxed atmosphere encourages mingling between filmmakers and the public, away from the glitz and glamour of the bigger festivals. If you are a filmmaker, FilmExchange is the place to meet your peers, and perhaps hatch a new project. If you are a film buff, it's a great place to see the films of some of the best of Canada's up-and-coming new voices, as well as gleaning key insights from noted Industry Professionals at our seminars and panels. You can even screen your own short films as part of our Local Exposure contest! So come out to FilmExchange and show us what you've got-I'll Show You Mine!
